Portfolio websites - Research

http://www.visualswirl.com/inspiration/designer-portfolio-website/

I like the lay out of this web page, I think that the work is laid out in a very balanced way and the type and illustration in the middle very much speak for itself. Its got a very old style,with a retro type for the heading.

http://visualrepublic.net

This web page is very much a type based website, as there is no visible imagery. The type is big and bold which gets the point across straight to the person viewing with no funny business. At the top of the website is a

Creating a button in Adobe Flash

Today we created a button in adobe flash player. We did this by opening Adobe Flash player and creating a new document. The first thing we did was create a button, by making a shape on the blank page  and converting it to a symbol. We went to a tab called modify then down to convert to symbol.

this is a screenshot of how to convert your button to a symbol.

here i am showing the changes i have made to the button in its layer and the states (up,down,over,hit) to have their own individual colour so they change when have interaction.

London/Borough Market trip

on thursday 19th of september, We went on a trip to Borough Market and Southbank in London. We arrived at 10.30 and met representatives of Borough Market, they gave us an information pack about the market and its history. After this we were taken down to the market where we were shown around and had some time to look around and take photographs for our project. We have to create a poster for the market so we had to collect as much research as possible.

After we went to borough market. We went and visited the Tate Modern and the Bankside gallery to look at different kinds of posters to help us with our research. We continued to walk along the South bank towards the skate park where there was lots of graffiti.

Creating our own website

Today I have learned how to create my own website. It was the first time I had attempted doing this. My website contained two headings, some coloured text and an image with a link within it. I have learned about HTML which stands for Hypertext Markup Language. All websites are based on this script. We used tags <p> which means paragraph, <h1> which stands for heading 1.

<title>Sam's Website</title>
<style type="text/css">

h1 {
 color: red;
 font-size:46px;
 font-style:italic;
}

h2 {
 color: green;
 font-size:50px;
}

this is an example of the sort of tags you would use when creating a webpage.

After college

Once I have finished my course at college, I am either going to take a year out and try and get my driving licence and car sorted or I am going to try and get a full time job. I would like to have a career in graphic design if possible. It would be ideal if I got a job in the graphics industry shortly after I leave college, as then I would be able to get my driving licence and work at the same time. I hope to get some sort of apprenticeship in Graphic design so i can take my skills further and get the best I can out of it.

I think that driving is definetely a priority for me, as I live in a fairly rural area. Once I have my driving licence sorted It will give me more confidence and motivation to get a job. I would like to work in London for some experience and because the best jobs are in London.

Summer Holidays

I went to a few raves in the summer the first one was a week after we broke up for summer. it was called bangers and mash and had lots of top drum and bass DJ's and MC's. I managed to get on the small stage and get a few pictures with some of the MC's. It was a good start to the summer holidays

The next month I went to two more raves. the first was called epidemik and again featured some top DJ's and MC's. My favourite MC was playing at this event so i made sure i had my ticket a few weeks before. I think this rave was on a par with the first in terms of the music and atmosphere.

The other rave i went to was Sticky on september 1st in kings cross, London at a club called scala. It was £10 to get in so again i made sure i was at this event as it was so cheap. This rave was alot bigger than the other two i went to and had all of the Top drum and bass artists performing. Im definetely going to go to more raves as they are the best thing to go to on a night out it blows regular clubbing out the water.

SAFE.

Visit to D&AD Exhibition in London

On wednesday the 27th of June, we went on a trip to Brick Lane in London to look around the D&AD exhibition. This exhibition showcased the work of university students all over the country and a way of showing what the different universities all over the UK have to offer. We spent a lot of the day exploring the surrounding areas and looking at different styles of Graffiti which was almost everywhere to be seen. It was a fun day out and a good last trip of the first year on the course.
